Amber Southard and Deputy Ken Simmons join the Pensacola Expert Panel to share all about the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office “Shop with a Cop” program that brings Christmas cheer to children in need. Working with the school district, ESCO officers and civilian employees work together to shop for a child in need to provide a little extra magic at Christmas time. In years past, the children would have the opportunity to join the law enforcement officer in the shopping expedition. For 2020, the children sent wish lists and the officers did the shopping. Deputy Simmons shares some of the items on the wish lists this year which almost always include gifts and items for other people not just the child themselves. This program has been successfully operating for at least 12 years, and donations are accepted year-round to support the shopping and celebration that are all part of spreading cheer in our community.
