WSRE's Jennifer Hill joins the Pensacola Expert Panel to discuss the new Beyond the Menu television show premiering this Thursday - Thanksgiving - at 8pm. Beyond the Menu serves to spotlight local restaurants to share the history behind our local favorites and to offer viewers a personal experience with exclusive dishes from each featured chef. The show is a pivot from WEAR's usual Food + Wine fundraising event. The first episode will feature Scenic 90 Cafe, McGuire's Irish Pub, Pot Roast & Pinot, and The District: Seville Steak and Seafood. Viewers will learn about the historical context and background details of each restaurant thanks to the partnership between WEAR, University of West Florida and the Pensacola Historic Trust. The first 500 viewers to participate can make a $100 donation to WSRE/PBS and receive a voucher to each of the restaurants for an exclusive dish and wine pairing. Vouchers are packaged ready-to-gift for all the hard-to-shop-for people on your list.
Jennifer explains that this will be the pilot episode in what should shape up to be an excellent series highlighting the food culture in our region from Baldwin County, AL to Okaloosa County, FL. Opportunities for restaurants to participate will be forthcoming because every restaurant has a story, and Beyond the Menu is designed to bring the experience to life for our community.
If you miss the premiere on Thanksgiving evening, you can catch the program again on Saturday 11/28 and again on Thursday 12/3.
