Greg Ammon and DJ Kint of the United Way of West Florida join the Pensacola Expert Panel to discuss the resources available for veterans in our community and beyond. Florida Veterans Support Line, a program of 211 Northwest Florida, serves 10 counties and connects callers who are veterans or spouses of veterans with a care coordinator. The care coordinator, who is also a veteran, provides an extra level of support to ensure that the caller connects with the resources that are most likely to help. Oftentimes, the care coordinator will advocate on behalf of the client and sometimes it can be the difference between having a safe place to live and homelessness.
By calling the Florida Veterans Support Line at 1-844-MYFLVET (693-5838), or 211, veterans are able to talk with a fellow veteran who can help them through the difficulties of transitioning back to civilian life.
The program offers:
-Comprehensive information and referral to VA
-funded services and hundreds of additional community-based services
-Emotional support provided by trained professionals; many of them fellow veterans
